The authorities in GLADA say that the developer has Rs 96 lakh external development charges (EDC) pending against him. In the past one year, the amount has crossed over Rs 1 crore after adding 18 per cent interest.
GLADA Chief Administrator A K Sinha had issued the notice on November 11, 2008, stating that the main road of the colony was only 46-feet wide as against 60-feet standard width. No service lane was made near its community centre, a garbage disposal site had been earmarked but no plant existed, a commercial centre and a park proposed in the plan had not been developed and no garbage bins were placed in the colony.
Manav Kalyan Sanstha, an NGO whose members also reside in the same colony, has asked GLADA to take action against the developer. The members fear that the developer will run away and later the EDC will have to be paid by the area residents.
“Such incidents have happened in the past too where residents ended up paying the EDC,” said Rajeev Kumar, one of the members of the NGO.
The colony has 70 constructed houses but the proposed population is of more than 11,000. According to the civil norms, a primary health centre and school are a must for big colonies. However, residents allege that no primary health centre site has been earmarked, while school site has been sold out.
Sinha said, “The developer has sought some time to reply. Our team had found some violations but we will take action once a reply comes.”
