New Delhi Kolkata Knight Riders have signed up Railways pacer Anureet Singh on a two-year contract. Singh, who starred for Railways in his debut season with 20 wickets, impressed KKR coaches during the trials held at the Eden Gardens.

“I have signed a two-year contract with Kolkata Knight Riders five days back,” Anureet told Sportline on Friday.

Singh added that the Knight Riders coaching staff was really impressed by his pace.

“They were all impressed with the way I was bowling at the nets and were very encouraging,” Singh said, adding that he didn’t get an opportunity to speak to John Buchanan or Sourav Ganguly, though.

“At the end of trials, Joy Bhattacharjee (KKR’s CEO), confirmed that I would be given a contract from the team. In fact, they wanted me to sign on the dotted line as soon as I can,” he added.

The trials didn’t start well for the 20-year-old as Vineet Indulkar was struck by a bouncer. Indulkar needed stitches afterwards.

“He was struck by one of my bouncers. It happens,” he said, recalling the incident.

Despite the good news that is coming his way, Anureet has no plans to celebrate just yet. “Let me do anything big, then I’ll celebrate.”
