Aoc-in-C says need to modernise Air Force

Chandigarh, February 2 AIR Marshal Gautam Nayyar, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C), Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force arrived on a four-day inspection and review visit at 3 Base Repair Depot (3BRD) here today. The Air Marshal while interacting with the officers of the depot, stressed upon the need to modernise equipment and processes and also underlined the need for rapid indigenisation. “A possible collaboration between private industry and in-house defence research laboratories could help achieve this objective,” he said.

During his visit, the AOC-in-C would inspect various ongoing projects at 3 BRD besides reviewing the production for the current year and setting up of targets for the next year.

The Air Marshal was accompanied by his wife, Rachita Nayyar, who is also the president of the Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA)-Regional. During her stay here, Nayyar would be interacting with the women present at the station and would also be inspecting various welfare activities being run by AFWWA here.

Air Marshal Nayyar is an engineering graduate from Osmania University and was commissioned in the IAF in 1972 in Aeronautical Engineering (Mechanical) branch. He has rich experience in the maintenance of various fighter aircraft of Russian and Western origin.
