Vadodara An error in the announcement about the location of the centre frustrates standard XII students

Standard XII students and their parents in region have been at sea for the past one week as they are finding it difficult to locate the place where forms for the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) are being distributed for those who have missed it in the first round.

Most students and parents failed to notice the small, unclear hoarding placed behind the University Press notifying the availability of the GUJCET forms at the small cabin located over there.

Salman Shaikh a standard XII student, who came from Godhra to get a copy of the GUJCET form here on Tuesday, has been roaming around in the city to find the location. Many more students have been confused because of the wrong information provided earlier by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) about the location of the distribution centre.

The Board had earlier announced the forms will be available at Maratha Moholla, Raopura. Later, the Board, in a revised message, asked the school authorities to inform their students that the right address was Maratha Moholla, Navapura.

The students were frustrated when they failed to locate the distribution centre at the place. Instead, the distribution of the forms was being carried out at cabin located behind University Press near Kirti Stambh.

“Even at Navapura location, no one was present to inform the people about the change," said K C Arora, a parent of a standard XII student. "A tea vendor finally guided me about the right place. I have looked for it in the whole city – from my residence at Sama to Raopura, to a school at Navapura and finally to the University press," he said.

After distributing the GUJCET forms for two days, the Board had announced that the forms will be available at a centre in Vadodara for those who could not get it earlier. "It was difficult to locate this small cabin in absence of any proper hoarding guiding about it location," said Priyanka Jadav, a standard XII student.

"This is an additional centre which has been set up for those areas where the stock of the GUJCET forms had exhausted," said Y M Vyas, officer on special Duty, GSHSEB.He said the confusion happened as an error about the address was made at the main centre at Gandhinagar and the schools were not attending to the individual students.
