New Delhi A 40-year-old Army havaldar was arrested for allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter in Naraina area of Southwest Delhi.

The police said they received a complaint from a local resident, a retired brigadier, that a girl was being raped by her father. However, she could not complain as he kept threatening her with dire consequences.

“The victim first told a woman in the neighbourhood who then approached a brigadier,” the police said.

The accused, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, earlier lived alone. Around 15 days back, he brought his daughter with him to Delhi where he is currently posted.

The police said medical examination has confirmed rape. A case has been registered with the local police and investigations are on. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Southwest district, K Jagdeshan said, “We have booked the father and a case has been lodged. The accused is an Army havaldar.” The girl has been sent to an NGO and the family members have been informed.
