Junagadh The 18 Pakistani fishermen, who were detained by the Indian Coast Guard on Wednesday for illegally crossing the International Maritime Border Line, will be produced before a Porbandar court on Saturday.

The Coast Guard had also seized a fishing boat Gul-e-Sarwar, bearing Pakistani registration no MFV-15537.

Coast Guard personnel brought the boat along with its 18 crew members to the Porbandar port and handed them over to the local police late on Thursday. The detainees have been kept in custody of the marine police station here.

According to the police, Coast Guard officer J B Yadav has lodged a complaint with the Porbandar police against all the 18 crewmen.

G K Maru, Investigating Officer and in-charge Sub-Inspector of the marine police station, said, “The men were arrested under the Rule 3, 7 and 10 of the Maritime Zones of India Act. All the accused will be produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate, Porbandar.”

Maru added, “We will seek their remand, as investigation is underway and many things are yet to be revealed. Prima facie it seems they are fishermen.”

Among the arrested the tandel (captain) of the boat, identified as Saiyed Badshah, Sarwarkhan Gulkhan, Saiyadukhan Aalamkhan and 15 others. “Badshah has been arrested for the second time,” Maru said.
