Bose on Thursday said he had spoken to the state industry minister Partha Chatterjee and finance minister Amit Mitra who supported his view that state government employees cannot enjoy “full trade union rights” .

Employees belonging to numerous associations continued their protests on Thursday and staged rallies demanding that Bose should restrain himself from “taking away the earned rights of government employees”.

“I would advise the employees to come under a single organisation, which will hold talks with the government,” Bose said when asked if the government would backtrack in the wake of the growing resentment among the employees. “Right message would be delivered to the right place and at the right time,” Bose replied when asked if the government would take action against the agitating employees.

When asked if the issue will come up during Friday’s Cabinet meeting, he said, “If it comes up, I will discuss it at the meeting.” Bose has urged the state government employees to comply with the government rules, which does not give them the permission to “conduct rallies and shout slogans” without getting approval from the government.

“Writers’ Building is not a factory,” the minister said, when asked about the protests at the state administrative headquarters by employees. “I would be conducting surprise checks to the department’s offices shortly to see if the employees are coming to office at the right time. This would be done to bring back a bit of work culture,” he said.
