Pune Well-known singer Asha Bhosle will inaugurate the 82nd Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan to be held at Mahabaleshwar from March 20 to 22.

Bhosle's elder sister Lata Mangeshkar had inaugurated the 75th Sahitya Sammelan and after seven years, Asha Bhosle has been honoured to inaugurate the Sammelan when she is 75 years old.

The office bearers of Mahabaleshwar branch of Maharashtra Sahitya Parishad that is organising the event met Bhosle on Wednesday to congratulate her for accepting to inaugurate the function. She said it was an opportunity to pay tribute to the Marathi literati who had influenced her.

“Our generation grew on reading books but the present generation is moving away from reading. Efforts are needed at the levels of school and college to root the reading culture,” she said.

Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar, Mohan Kulkarni, Anand Parajape and Sudheer Ekande of organising committee were present on the occasion.
