Chandigarh Holi turned disastrous for a resident of village Raipur Kalan who was killed by his three neighbours following a minor altercation on Wednesday.

Police said Shankar, a labourer, had invited one of the accused, Sarnesh, for a drink. He later vomited inside the victim’s house and refused to clean up before leaving.

“The two started fighting over the issue. Sarnesh managed to run away but returned later with two friends, Sanoj and Manna, carrying iron rods. They hit Shankar on his head and fled the spot when the victim started bleeding,” a police officer said.

The victim was found lying in a pool of blood by his brother. He was rushed to the General Hospital in Sector 6, Panchkula, where the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The Station House Officer of Manimajra police station said they have registered a case of murder against all the three accused.

Sarnesh was later arrested by the police while trying to flee the village. Shankar’s body was handed over to his family after postmortem.
