Chandigarh Even after Chandigarh Newsline provided proof of Assistant Superintendent of Police Madhur Verma violating traffic norms by driving without a seat belt, officers of the traffic police department continue to do the cover-up job.

A photograph published in Chandigarh Newsline (January 5) showed Verma driving without a seat belt outside the Punjab Police headquarters on the day when Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was in Chandigarh for questioning. The traffic officers maintain that when the officer was caught on camera, the vehicle was not moving.

Superintendent of Police (Traffic) H S Doon, meanwhile, said: “I was busy since morning with the traffic awareness week and, therefore, could not go through any of the newspapers. I am not aware about any such photograph. I will take appropriate action after going through the paper.”
