Lucknow The Lucknow police have arrested S-I Subhash Mishra, who had allegedly assaulted a woman and misbehaved with her daughters in Alambagh on June 20.

This came after in a complaint to DGP Vikram Singh on Thursday, the woman alleged that Mishra attempted to rape her two minor daughters and assaulted her. Singh has visited the victims and assured them of adequate security cover. He also handed over Rs 3,500 to the woman.

Interestingly, according to Lucknow Range IG AK Jain, who accompanied the DGP during his visit, the two sisters did not complain of molestation or any attempt to rape committed by the policemen. “The girls said the policemen had hit their mother, causing her injuries,” he added.

“The Lucknow DIG has been handed over the complaint and he has to take the further action,” the IG said.

On Wednesday night, the police had lodged an FIR against unidentified persons for assaulting the woman. Alambagh SHO Rajvir Singh had claimed that the woman had not named the accused in the FIR. The police had lodged the FIR under Sections 323, 504, 506 and 452 of the IPC and the charge of attempt to rape was not included.

On Thursday, however, the woman said the police had not registered any complaint on Wednesday. According to her, she had complained against Mishra to the SP (East) Harish Kumar, when the officer had visited her house and had recorded her statement a day before the FIR was lodged.

Lucknow DIG NK Srivastava had suspended Mishra on Wednesday, but had not named him as an accused in the case.
