The other corruption case against the DC is also likely to be probed by the panel. It, however, is pertinent to mention here that Patiala Divisional Commissioner J S Bir had given a clean-chit to the DC in the alleged corruption case regarding the allotment of cracker sites.

Satpal Gosain, Deputy Speaker of the Vidhan Sabha, while talking to Newsline said, “One case has already been sent to the Privileges Committee and the other corruption case against Gurjar is also likely to be referred soon. It is shameful for the IAS officer that his case will be seen by a panel of elected representatives and that too two complaints in one go.”

Meanwhile, the DC met CM Parkash Singh Badal on Saturday, who was in the city for a personal visit. The meeting was reportedly held behind closed doors for about half an hour, but the DC did not divulge any details and simply said, “The CM had a minor injury on his hand and I had gone to see him at the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. He did not ask me anything about the inquiry or anything else.”

The DC also feigned ignorance about his case being looked into by a Privileges panel. “I have no knowledge,” he said.

Gosain, meanwhile, also stated that as per the norms, a case is moved into a Privileges Committee if the inquiry by the divisional commissioner is not satisfactory to any of the parties. He had already expressed resentment over the inquiry report submitted by Bir.
