UTKARSH 2008, the annual fest of Babu Banarasi Das Group of Educational Institutions, Lucknow, was formally declared open on Thursday at Dr. Akhilesh Das Stadium in the BBD Campus by Vice Chancellor, Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), Prof. Prem Vrat.

The week long festival which comprises of several sports, cultural and technical events shall conclude on February 4. A participation of about 7000 students from Babu Banarasi Das National Institute of Technology and Management, Northern India Engineering College and Uttar Pradesh Dental College & Research Centre is expected during the fest.

Sports and Games events will include Indoor & Outdoor games like table tennis, chess, carrom, cricket, football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, badminton, kho-kho, etc. besides the athletics races and relays.

The results of sports events are as follows :

100m race (Boys)- 1st Mukesh (BBD);

Discuss Throw (Girls)- 1st Uttarishti Singh (BBD);

Triple Jump (Boys)- 1st Abhishek Srivastava (BBD);
