Six months ago, Ahmed had appeared in person during voting for the presidential poll in Parliament. Since then, he has not attended any Parliament session after being declared an absconder by the state police.
Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had also issued a notice to Ahmed regarding his absence from parliamentary sessions for such a long period.
“We will follow instructions of the court in this connection. He will be taken to New Delhi to attend the budget session if the courts says yes to his application,” said Circle Officer Surya Kant Tripathi.
The district police have, meanwhile, launched a drive to arrest Ahmed’s brother and former SP MLA Ashraf and their brother-in-law Hamza. Both are wanted in several cases and are absconding.
