AUDA ties up with private players for infrastructure development

Ahmedabad Inks 37 MoUs worth Rs 43,129 crore for housing, townships, industrial parks, hotels and resorts

The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) has signed MoUs with private construction companies and realtors to bring in huge infrastructure projects to the city and its peripheries.

Thirty-seven MoUs, worth Rs 43,129 crore, were signed at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors' Summit 2009 for housing, townships, industrial parks, hotels and resorts, besides many other projects lined up.

Neela Munshi, Chief Town Planner of AUDA, said: "We have signed MoUs with many realtors. There are some big projects coming in. We have plans for MIG and LIG housing too, for which many builders have shown their commitment for investments. There are plans for industrial parks and business parks. We have taken all aspects

of development in and around the city into consideration".

Santosh Associates has signed an MoU to build 3,000 apartments of low-cost housing, worth Rs 80 crore, in Vatva. Lovson Project Ltd is also coming up with low-cost houses, worth Rs 100 crore in Ahmedabad. The Ozone group has also planned to develop similar houses in Naroda and Adalaj.

Popular Estate Management Ltd. is planning to build MIG houses in Vadaj, worth Rs 720 crores. Bakeri Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd. is coming up with LIG-MIG housing in Vejalpur, while Arvind Limited will build affordable houses, worth Rs 250 crore in Moti Bhoyan in Kalol.

Moreover, Bakeri Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd. has proposed a residential township, which will be affordable for HIG, LIG and MIG, in Sughad. The project will cost a whopping Rs 2,000 crore.

The Ultimate Entertainment Private Limited has decided to develop an integrated township with education, leisure, retail and entertainment facilities in Ranchodpura.

Neo International Sports Academy will construct an indoor cricket and golf stadium, worth Rs 100 crore. Luv Kush infrastructure has extensive plans of building educational, eco-tourism, biotech and power generation parks in Kheda. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 630 crore.

Meanwhile, AUDA has planned a development project for the Ahmedabad-Mumbai National Highway. "It is a Rs 12,000 crore project, which will include a lot of chapters," said Munshi.
