Aussies attract students with new migration plans

Chandigarh, February 24 An Australian Education fair was organised by IDP Education Private Limited today. More than 40 institutes from Australia were present on the occasion. The exhibition is being held twice a year for the past 15 years.

Henry A S Ledlie, Director, IDP India said that the programme would be beneficial for all the students seeking study options in Australia. “The students get a chance for interviews with representatives from different varsities. It provides them a platform to find out the best options to pursue a course of their choice. They also receive guidance on application,” he said.

Talking about the advantages of studying in Australia he said that cost of living is not as high as the US or the UK. Under the new migration plans announced by the Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs as well as the Minister for Education, Science and Training, the students graduating from Australian universities will be able to apply for temporary work visas. There would be more emphasis on English language proficiency.

The institute’s present offered courses in varied fields from IT, engineering, hospitality, nursing, accounting to some vocational ones.

The representatives informed that the students have become selective in their choice of courses, with most of them favouring courses which are in consonance with what they are pursuing in India. They are also selective of the institutes.
