Ahmedabad Professor Tim Flannery, one of Australia's leading environmentalists, was in the city on Sunday at the Ahmedabad Management Association to discuss the challenges of global warming and the methods of energy preservation.

The meet highlighted the future of energy in India and the changes that the country needs to adapt for a better store of energy.

Flannery, speaking to Newsline, said, "India needs to diversify its energy sources. The country is in a condition to face worse situation in future, as the energy resources will diminish soon. There is a need to take the energy issue seriously."

Flannery added, "According to the clauses of the Nuclear Deal, other countries have refused to supply uranium to India. I believe it's a wrong policy."

According to Flannery, the condition in rural India was worse. He said the agriculture industry in India needed energy to a great extent and it was the worst affected sector.

Prof Flannery will also launch the 'Management Education Centre on Climate Change' at the Gujarat University campus today.
