Auto driver held for assaulting woman

Kolkata An auto driver was arrested for assaulting a woman in the Amherst Street area on Wednesday evening. Puja Manhot (35), a resident of Salt Lake, took an auto from Girish Park to Kankurgachi. However, on her way she felt that a cyclist who was overtaking the auto from the left was going to hurt her. She asked the auto driver, Suman Dey, to stop and got engaged in an altercation with the cyclist. When Suman tried to intervene to sort out the matter, a heated exchange ensued between him and Puja, during which Suman reportedly insulted Puja and even slapped her.
