Ayodhya, March 3 All entrances to the Babri Masjid-Ram Janam Bhumi site will soon have electronic access control systems to trace the identity of the visitors.

The system will include an electronic fingerprint reading machine, besides an X-ray scanner which will also be installed.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Senior Superintendent of Police BP Tripathi said the permanent committee on security has sanctioned the purchase of these machines. Initially, only two-fingerprint reading machines will be purchased, which will cost about Rs 4 lakh, Tripathi added. He said mobile phones with common user group numbers will be made available to security personnel.

With this system, the guards deputed at the site will also be recognised by the fingerprint reading machines.

At present, security personnel have to carry two types of identity cards, one issued by their respective force and the other by the administration at the site.

The decision comes after several intelligence reports pointed out that the site is a terrorists’ target.

Citing a foiled attempt to storm the site, the reports add that this time, the terrorists may try to get access by using forged identity cards.
