New Delhi, January 5: Congress president Sonia Gandhi continued to be in hospital for the fifth day on Saturday and her condition was described as being ‘stable and satisfactory’.

"The condition of UPA chairperson Mrs Sonia Gandhi, who is suffering from chest infection, is improving steadily. Her condition is stable and satisfactory. She has been advised to continue her rest," said B K Rao, Chairman of Board of Management of Sir Gangaram Hospital, where she was admitted on January 1.

The hospital did not specify when she would be discharged.

The 61-year-old Gandhi was admitted to hospital on New Year day after she complained of difficulty in breathing.
