Kolkata, January 6: The CPI(M) has said it has changed itself according to the requirements of time for which it has often been misunderstood by the people and political parties.

"We have tried to work with the farmers and the labourers and always tried to uphold their interest. If we analyse, we will find that in last 30 years the party has changed according to the requirement of the day," West Bengal Industry minister Nirupam Sen said.

"For this change we have often been misunderstood. I have tried to explain this change and analyse it in my essays," Sen said at the release of his book.

A collection of essays - Bikalper Sandhane - written by the minister was released by CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose at the party office in Kolkata.

"In this age of liberal economy it is impossible to stand apart and make a way and so CPI(M) has gone for an alternative economy and politics which is evident from Sen's observation" Bose said.

"We have our limitations and for that we have often been misunderstood by political parties, including our partners and by the people. These essays will help the people understand how we have worked for the people despite our limitations" Bose said supporting Sen's statement.

The book is a collection of 16 essays written by the minister in party papers in the past few years. Apart from that, his lectures at different seminars have also found a place in the collection.

Published by National Book Agency, the introduction of the book is written by former chief minister Jyoti Basu. Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee was also present on the occasion.

Communists of India--- by romesh.sharma on 07 Jan 2008

What is there to understand? You commies have nothing positive,or simply nothing, on your agenda that could have been misunderstood. What you guys are interested is nothing but have good times at the cost of poor, ignorants and wastrels of the population through exploitation and sentimental black-mail.Shame on these braggarts to speak high of themselves after so much awful criminal activities of killing ,burning and rape in Nandigram. The plight of Nation's security is jeopardized and for the most they are directly responsible and ofcourse by hanging on with support to the most inefficient UPA.I would say nobody should buy the so said essays or any literature concerning communism,as the matter of fact this communism must be banned.

Misunderstood? Indeed if we know the indian commies are chinese poodles, with nandigram they have even lost the tag of being secular, anti development as long as it is not happening in WB. You guys are misunderstood and need to be kicked out of india to beijing to play second fiddle there.

Communists does not like developement and like voilence by SUNNY on 07 Jan 2008

By keeping India as land of farmers and labourers communists have not solved any problems confronting the Indian nation.Illitaracy, Unemployment ,No safe drinking water, No rural/urban industries, no infrastucture , Crubling urban set-up( ex Kolkata). Why communists can develop Kerala , West Bengal which are under their fold to model and modern states like developed countries like Korea ,Malaysia ,Taiwan or as the matter of fact Japan.Communist china is following capitalist policies since it started reforms in 1978 .Communists are stubling blocks for developement! Why they can not condemn killings by Naxals ? They do not have any developement agenda! Only agenda they know is to block the progress and change! If you see West Bengal and Kolkata city ( now slightly better)that tells all the story about communists and their developement agenda!
