Amisha: You are playing an angel in the film but I am very curious to know whether you really believe in them, Rani?
Rani: Yes, I do believe in angels. I feel I have a guardian angel who protects me and takes care of me.
Amisha: Oh, so it must have felt wonderful playing the part , even if it was for a film…
Rani: Yes! This kind of role does not come often. Not many people think of making a film on angels.
Amisha: And what was the best thing about the part?
Rani: That she is devoid of any kind of negative emotions. All she knows is how to bring fun, smiles and magic into the lives of people. Very different from playing a girl weeping over lost love and men, I have enacted so many films before.
Saif: Maybe you keep smiling on screen, but enacting it almost had you in tears! Remember how you had to be strapped on to a harness to do your flying act…
Rani: Oh yes! That was the tough part. It was not funny to be tied on to a harness and swing all over the place. I had to maintain a certain posture, which at times was very painful. Thanks to the action director Shyamji the scenes have turned out beautifully.
Amisha: I believe, you were even injured once.
Rani: Yes I was. I often thought what Hrithik Roshan must have gone through when acting in Krissh.
Saif: I love the scene when you enter into my house, cycling down a rainbow. But you wear only one costume throughout the film. How did you feel about that?
Rani: I did not feel bad! My designer Manish Malhotra made sure even that one costume had a lot of variety. Didn’t you notice there were so many layers? Under the jacket there was a waistcoat and then a tee. Sometimes I am shown in a tee, at times in a waistcoat and at times wearing the complete set. So it was quite ok!
Saif: Hmmmmm
Rani: But your suits were very smart and you did a remarkable job as Ranbeer Talwar, this rich executive who has everything going for him yet he remains so aloof. Really you were wonderful! Did you keep anyone in mind for your character?
Saif: Ya I did! My reference point for my character were a few senior perfects in school and our film’s director Mr Kunal Kohli himself. He is so suave and polished, isn’t he? Just like my character is supposed to be.
Amisha: Hey, I am the surprise factor of the film, but I am dying to talk about my character, Mallaika, because it was so challenging to play this brief yet very important role in the film. I am specially looking forward to the response to my song sequence…..Lazy lamhe…..Yes, it is a song sequence and not an item number as everyone is presuming that it is!
Rani: I would call it a sensuous number since you look fabulous in that yellow bikini! But I believe shooting it was no cakewalk. You had to learn scuba diving and all that, since part of the song is shot underwater.
Amisha: Yes, that and then I also went on a gruelling diet to lose weight. The shooting was also extended from eight days to two weeks because I got a cold and we had to make arrangements to heat the water in the pool.
Saif: And a special underwater camera was also arranged for to film in the waters!
Amisha: It was worth it because it is going to be the first song in the history of Indian cinema to be lip synched underwater! God it was so tough to sing with the water going in your mouth all the time!
Saif: Overall a very feel good film. It follows a Sound Of Music sort of template and the audiences, especially the children are going to love it!
Rani: I loved working with the kids also. They were all so talented and wonderful. I cannot think of any moment when they created a fuss. We have made a film we believe in and I am sure like I bring love and magic into the lives of the people in the film, it will bring magic and love into the lives of the audiences too!
