UP ‘Red’ dominated the proceedings from the word go. Dodging defenders skilfully, Abhay Kumar succeeded in breaking the ice in the very 17th minute of the play. Bolstered by his initial success, he netted another goal just a minute later. As if this was not enough, he scored yet another goal in the 29th minute to complete his hat-trick. In the second-half, Ajay Yadav sounded the boards twice— in the 43rd and 46th minute (through penalty-stroke) to make the score 5-0. Thereafter, Chandan Singh (49th minute) and Akshay Yadav (54th minute) netted apiece each. In all UP ‘Red’ got 12 penalty corners (PCs) and a penalty stroke out of which it was able to make use of the penalty stroke opportunity. Orissa got one PC. Cheema Academy, Punjab outclassed Ludhiana 3-2 in the other semi-final. The score at half-time was 2-0 in favour of Cheema Academy. Cheema Academy's Jatinder Singh broke the ice in the 7th minute through a penalty-corner. Jashan Preet Singh consolidated the lead further just two minutes later. In the second-half Harman Preet Singh struck two goals through penalty-corners awarded to Ludhiana in the 37th and 50th minute to level the scores. However, Jashan Preet Singh scored a beautiful goal in the 56th minute to pave the way for a 3-2 win for the Cheema Academy team.In all- Cheema Academy got five PCs out of which it was able to make use of one such opportunity. Ludhiana got seven PCs and it was able to make use of two such chances.
