Ludhiana, February 1 District and Sessions Judge G K Rai today rejected the regular bail applications filed by Anil Narula, Arun Nayyar and Sanjay Jetwani, directors of Today Homes Company, in the multi-crore City Centre case.

The lawyer for the accused claimed that his clients have been falsely implicated by Vigilance Bureau in this case. He said that since the court had given bail to other persons in this case, it should be given to his clients too.

But Special Public Prosecutor Mitter Sen Goyal opposed the bail plea. He claimed that the trio received money as kickbacks in the City Centre case. He stressed that keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, the accused should not be bailed out, or they could hamper the ongoing trial.

The judge rejected regular bail to the trio, who had been chargesheeted by VB, but never arrested. Apprehending arrest, the accused had filed anticipatory bail applications before the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The High Court had directed that their bail applications be decided within three days. The High Court also ordered that in case of dismissal of their bail application, they would not be arrested for a week. However, the court granted the bail applications filed by Sunita Ghambir (wife), Natasha (daughter), Vikram and Yeshu (niece and nephew) of G K Ghambir, Director Today Homes. They were directed to furnish a surety to the tune of Rs 5 lakh each.
