Perhaps a hot-air balloon is really required to lift the reputation of Chandni Chowk to China that has suffered in the reviews. Anyway, Akshay Kumar flew in one, about 50 ft up in the air and covering barely 50 m in the driveway of Ambience Mall, Gurgaon, on Thursday evening, with co-star Deepika Padukone clutching tightly to his sweatshirt and waving graciously at the crowd. Once on the ground, Kumar winced, “I feel my body is giving way with all these stunts.” He said he had a tough time shaping up for the film in which he performs with Chinese martial artists: “Since their body is built for stunts and my physique is like a wrestler’s, I really had to train hard.” While Padukone was mostly quiet post the balloon adventure, Kumar said, “I have come to the conclusion that people enjoy my style of comedy”, and promised his comic films would keep coming. That is no hot air.
