Balmohan, Saraswati storm into quarter finals

Mumbai, February 5 Balmohan Vidyamandir (Dadar) and S.V.P.T. Saraswati Vidyalaya (Thane) entered the quarter finals of the boys under-17 Boost Cup Inter-Schools cricket tournament, promoted by Procam International, at the Cross Maidan, here on Tuesday.

Bandra's I. E. S. New English School won the toss and elected field. Balmohan Vidyamandir managed to get 235 runs in 45 avers for loss of 4 wickets. Sumit Ghadigaonker was the top scorer with 63 runs with 11 boundaries. Ravi Shinde also played a crucial knock 53 runs.

In reply, New English School had the brakes put on them by Balmohan's leg break bowler Kaustubh Kolambkar. New English School innings ended 192 for 9 in 45 Overs with Kaustubh taking four wickets and giving away 36 runs.

In the other game, S.V.P.T. Saraswati Vidyalaya, Thane beat Don Bosco (Matunga) by just five runs in a close game.

Brief scores: I. E. S. Modern English (Dadar) 71 all out in 25.4 Overs (Tejas Nikam 22 (3x4), Sayyed Anwar (LAS) 4 for 4 in 5.4 Overs, Salman Shaikh (RM) 4 for 23 in 8 Overs) lost to Anjuman I-Islam Urdu (C.S.T.) 72 for no loss in 11.4 Overs (Mazharul Haque 28 (4x4), Firoz Khan 26 (3x4).

S.V.P.T. Saraswati Vidyalaya (Thane) 193 all out in 40.2 Overs (Sagar Surve 44 (7x4), Ashay Parulekar 44 (3x4), Apurva Nalavade 32 (6x4), Shreyas Aiyer 2 for 21, Ronish Semlani 2 for 27) bt Don Bosco (Matunga) 188 all out in 45 Overs (Aakarsheet Gomal 47 (8x4), Shreyas Aiyer 22), Jitesh Ghate 3 for 28, Nayush Jadhav 2 for 32).

Hansraj Morarji School (Andheri) 180 all out in 41.3 Overs (Jaideep Pardesi81 (77b, 13x4), Varun KArkera 37 (3x4), Akash Saraswat 3 for 36) bt Shardashram Vidyamandir English (Dadar) 173 for 9 in 45 Overs (Raj Gohil 65 (2x4, 1x6), Utsav Judge (LB) 4 for 33).
