Balwinder shines for mechanical engineering

Chandigarh, March 7 Balwinder Singh of mechanical engineering (first year) guided his team to win the Chitkara Football League played at Chitkara campus on Friday. The team of mechanical engineering (first year) scored a 4-2 win over the team of electrical engineering (fourth year) in the final of the league.

Led by their skipper Vikramjeet Singh, mechanical engineering (first year) got a fine start as Balwinder Singh got his team to a great start by netting the first goal for mechanical engineering (first year) in the first minute of the game. Balwinder struck again in the 15th minute when he scored the second goal for his team. Vikramjeet increased the leeway for mechanical engineering (first year) by scoring the third goal while Nitish hammered the fourth goal for his team. Vishesh Saini brought electrical engineering (fourth year) back into game by scoring two goals but that was not enough in the end. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs.15, 000, while the runners-up team got Rs 10,000. In all, 17 teams took part in the Chitkara Football League which was played over a period of one month.
