Mumbai, February 24 Bandra Strikers and Thakur College ‘A’ won the Boys u-18 Inter-Zonal finals of the Mumbai FC Junior Champs football tournament played at the St. Andrew’s school grounds, Bandra and Thakur College ground, Kandivali on Sunday.

Bandra Strikers and Thakur College ‘A’ and other Zonal winning teams are qualified for the Mega City finals on 14th to 16th March, at Ghatkopar.

In the zonal final at St. Andrews (Bandra), Bandra Strikers beat Carmelites 1-0 and at Thakur College, Kandivali, Thakur College ‘A’ team defeated Thakur College ‘B’ 2-0.

At the Boys u-18 zonal final at Bandra, a serious lapse from Carmelites goal keeper Ryan Kinny enabled Bandra Strikers shock Carmelites 1-0. In the very 3rd minute of the play Bandra Strikers Dylan Pinto’s shot from his own half came straight to goalkeeper Ryan Kinny, the ball slipped from his hands and went between his legs into his goal.

This lapse proved very costly for the Carmelites who displayed good football throughout the match but could not find the target. Bandra Strikers Rohit Halian was shown red card in the first half who was sent out, with six men they played out the rest of the match without conceding a goal.

All the winning teams from their zones received Rupees Five Thousand and qualified to play in the zonal finals to be played at Ghatkopar from 14-16 March .
