Bankmen in final

Mumbai, January 5 Standard Chartered Bank led by Vinay Bapat entered the final of the Times Shield `E’ Division Cricket Tournament they will meet BARC in the 45-overs final. They beat Western Railway, Accounts by 52 runs at the MB union ground, Cross Maidan on Staurday.

Bank entering the final after a gap of two years, last they played in `F’ Division.

BARC defeated `F’ Divison champions Lilavati Hospital by five wickets at the Azad maidan.

The Bankmen batting first did well to score 274. Their opners Mayuresh Pokharankar and Amitava Bose gave them a good start putting on 115 runs before Bose had a cram.

Bose came after a fall of Pokharankar’s wicket he made well struck 47, was unlucky to miss his century by seven runs as he was run out in mix up. His knock was studded withtwo sixes and 13 fours.

One drop Abhishek Jaywant scored 66 runs and all rounder Shreyash Indulkar added another 36 runs were the other main run getters.

Left arm spinner James Godad was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 45.

In reply Western could manage to score 223 with Arvind Javadia being the top scorer. Opener Dinesh Sawant could just add a mere 31 runs on the board while Hitesh Popat added another 34 runs.

Left arm spinner Mahesh Shelke was the most successful bowler with4 for 21.

In the other semi-final, BARC did well to restrict Lilavati Hospital to 183 for 9.

Thanks to half century by P Jadhav (53). BARC achived the target with five wickets in hand. N Kadam with his knock of 48 runs and R Koli with a half century (56) were instrumental in their victory as both put on 92 runs for the third wicket.
