“Congress MP Pawan Kumar Bansal’s claim of bringing an International Airport to Chandigarh is totally a farce. The factual position is that in the Chandigarh International Airport project, the Central Government holds 51 per cent of the share and Punjab and Haryana have 24.5 per cent share each. However, Chandigarh does not have any share in this major project,” said BSP Convenor Harmohan Dhawan, while speaking at ‘Rubaru’, a programme organised by a TV Channel, at the Sector-22 market here on Saturday. Dhawan further said, “I would like to remind Bansal that the Haryana Government got its share after putting a lot of pressure on the Centre . I would like to ask him that when Punjab and Haryana could get their share in the project why not Chandigarh? Bansal has failed to protect the interests of the people of Chandigarh.”

Dhawan also criticised Bansal stating that Chandigarh being the only revenue surplus state in the country, is generating a surplus of Rs 670 crore per annum, which is going to the consolidated fund of India. Being Minister of State for Finance, Bansal has neglected the interests of the residents, he said.
