Kolkata The Bar Association of the Calcutta High Court today decided to put off the plan to cease work till Friday, after a meeting with the new Chief Justice J N Patel. The advocates will resume work from Tuesday.

Today representatives of the Bar Association met the Chief Justice for discussion on the incident took place on June 24. Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, vice-president of the association, said Patel was unhappy over the events that took place inside the High Court on June 24. During the meeting, the association demanded actions against those who were responsible for “police action” inside the High Court.

Steps would have to be taken against the Registrar General, M P Srivastava, who had called the police after directions from the former Chief Justice Mohit S Shah, said Roy. Roy said that Patel has already initiated an inquiry into the incident. On June 24 the police had evicted advocates from a court room.
