Kolkata The condition of former Chief Minister Jyoti Basu, who was admitted to the AMRI Hospital on Friday with lung congestion, is reportedly improving. His condition was stated to be stable though he was still found to be suffering from “severe chest condition”.

An X-Ray scan had revealed that he was suffering from moderately severe pneumonia. A five-member medical board has been formed to look into the case.

“Though not on ventilation, he is still taking liquid diet and antibiotics. But he will be under observation for at least the next three days,” said T S Kukreja, executive VP of AMRI
