Basu’s condition better

Kolkata There was a slight improvement in the health of veteran CPM leader Jyoti Basu on Sunday. He was admitted to AMRI Hospital on Friday evening with lung infection and is currently being treated for pneumonia. “Jyoti Basu has shown much improvement compared to yesterday. His condition is now relatively stable,” stated the medical bulletin issued by the hospital. According to the hospital authorities, Basu was given one unit of blood last night and later administered intravenous antibiotic. He will be under observation for the next 48 hours in ICU. His aide Joykrishna Ghosh said: “He spoke to me and said that he wants to go home.”
