According to the police, they received a call at 8 am on Thursday from the forest guards at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Borivali (East) about the discovery of a man’s body. “Our officials went to the spot and saw the body of a man in his mid-30s. We identified him with the help of a bag which contained some clothes and documents. His name was Shekhar Dalvi (35), a resident of Naigaon,” said Police Inspector Ravindra Medsingh, who is investigating the case.

From what the police found at the scene of crime, Dalvi’s head had been bashed with a branch that was found lying nearby with some blood on it. The cops thus reached a conclusion that it was the weapon used in the crime.

“The injuries were mostly on Dalvi’s face and head and it is evident that he had been severely beaten with the branch. We traced his family and informed his two brothers, who work as school staff in a Borivali school,” said Medsingh. “The victim’s brothers told us that Dalvi was unemployed since he left his job at a printing press some years ago, and his wife had left him due to his alcoholism,” he added.
