“The Inspector General (IG) (Planning) has been suspended. The suspension letter has been issued,” said Director West Bengal Director General of Police Bhupinder Singh.
Earlier, Dutt was transferred from IG, IB (North Bengal) to IG (Planning) after the state Human Rights Commission, which heard a complaint filed by the constable’s wife, found the officer “guilty”.
In her complaint, the constable’s wife had alleged her husband was even beaten and tortured for refusing sexual favours.
Dutt was also accused of sexually abusing his juniors when he was in-charge of the Police Training School.
Meanwhile, top officials in the state home department said Dutt had earlier applied for leave that had already been sanctioned.
Incidentally, the IG’s leave tenure began on Friday.
Sources said proceedings for a departmental inquiry have also been initiated to look into the charges against the IPS officer.

Another Rathore in the making??? Such tainted officers should be terminated from services. Suspension is too mild for officers holding high post. Time Govt. had code of conduct for people in uniform. There may be many such cases, which do not come to light, as these people resort to promotional couch!!!
