Ludhiana A Selfless Life, a film based on the life of Bhagat Puran Singh Pingalwara and produced by Toronto-based filmmaker Joginder Singh Kalsi was screened at PAU on Tuesday. Singh was a writer, publisher, environmentalist and philanthropist responsible for the establishment of Pingalwara, which takes care of sick, disabled and forlorn people.

While presenting a copy of the film to PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Manjit Singh Kang, Kalsi said that the film is a biographical account of Singh having both English and Punjabi tracks.

“All religions of the world, in one way or the other, emphasise that service to those in need and adversity is a human virtue and a channel for spiritual attainment,” said Kalsi adding that the documentary is devoted to Singh, an “unsung hero of India”.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kang described Singh as an embodiment of service to humanity and an inspiration for all.

“He strived to create awareness about conserving the environment, natural resources and follow the righteous path in life,” Kang said.
