"This amount will help me pay back my loans which I had taken to marry off my two daughters,'' he said. He would be depositing the cheque in the State Bank of India and after paying up his loans he will invest agricultural equipment, said the onion farmer.
For Baba Shinde, the pay day is on Monday when he stands to get Rs 2.75 crore. "I am making sure that all my brothers turn up to avoid any delay,” he said. The booty is to be shared with four of his brothers as it was joint land-holding.
These four villages will soon become an integral part of the SEZ that will come over 7,192 hectares spread over 17 villages. The first phase is expected to act as a benchmark for the next two phases, covering the remaining 13 villages.
District Collector Prabhakar Deshmukh said that the entire rehab package should be expedited in six months time. “We will be setting up a office in Khed with a team of ten members from MIDC and the collectorate for settling the package for the people. The employment package will be worked out after the company opens their unit,’’he said.
On Saturday, Nimgaon was the first stop for the government officers for disbursing the amount after the State High Power Committee sanctioned sanctioned Rs 219.83 crore as part of rehabilitation package. The pay days for Kendur, Dhavadi and Kanersar have been scheduled and by February 16 the entire amount would be disbursed, said Jadhav.
"We will be paying 3,034 project affected people and acquiring 1222 hectares,'' he said. Although presently he has received only Rs 50 crore from the allotted amount, the balance is expected soon. "There will be no delay on that front,' he said.
On day one, nine cheques totaling Rs 65.14 lakh were issued to six people in Nimgaon village. With there being several names on the 7/12 extracts, Jadhav said the process was a little slow as all members had to be present and the amount was to be divided among them.
"There are some members in the same family whose name figures in three extracts. The amount then has to be divided accordingly and a written consent for the same collected,'' Jadhav added.
For Kendur, February 5 and 6 are disbursement days while for Dhavadi it’s February 7, 11 and 12. The last stop would be Kanersar where the officers are conducting meetings with the villagers for disbursement of cheques from February 13 to 16.
Sub Divisional Officer Gajanan Patil has already held investment plan workshops in Nimgaon, Dhavadi, Kendur while Kanersar will follow. These workshops are aimed at helping the villagers to make the right investment plans.
