Bhoir, Shinde join hands to rescue Police

Mumbai Riding high after a brilliant 203 runs stand for seventh wicket between Nilesh Bhoir and Sachin Shinde, Mumbai Police denied Western Railway 'B' an outright victory on the final day of the Times Shield 'A' division cricket tournament played at Police Gymkhana on Thursday. Earlier, resuming on 73 for 2, Police needed 277 runs more to avoid innings defeat. After being 137 for six one stage, Police came back strongly with Bhoir and Shinde coming in rescue act.

In his unbeaten knock of 137, Bhoir faced 230 balls which had 26 fours at the ropes while Shinde was on crease for 224 minutes and struck six sixes and nine four in his patient innings.

Meanwhile, Air India was the only team to record an out right victory on the third day. They defeated Tata Sports Club by an innings and 93 runs to collect six points, which includes a bonus.

The former champions Tata were yet again bowled out for a paltry score of 151 with southpaw Nikhil Patil being the top scorer with 48.

At Mahalaxmi ground, Central Railway's once again manage to go home with a draw against BPCL. Central paid the price of casual approach as top-order Milind Tamhane, Kamran Chaudhry and Sushant Manjrekar failed to click. Musavir Khote, who scored his second half-century of the game, came to the his team’s rescue once again.
