Mohali As the joy over Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s glorified distribution of bounties settles, the assessment begins for the cost incurred in organising the sangat darshan programmes as part of the Vikas Yatra.

On January 17, when the CM showered development grants in Mohali, a sum of Rs 2.4 lakh was spent on organising the function at the Dussehra Ground in Phase VIII.

The Mohali Municipal Council (MC), which was host to the CM’s function, had invested on arranging chairs, dais, flags, sound system, main gate, decoration and banners, as per the directives of the then deputy commissioner.

As the CM had disbursed grants of Rs 2 crore each to Kharar, Kurali and Rs 1 crore to Nayagaon besides Rs 3 crore to Mohali, the local civic body wants to share the expenditure as per the ratio of grants received.

While the Mohali MC is ready to bear Rs 90,000, it proposes to recover Rs 60,000 each from Kharar and Kurali MC(s) besides recovering Rs 30,000 from the Nayagaon civic body.

An agenda item to this effect will come up for approval at the monthly meeting of the MC scheduled for Friday.

Another agenda item proposing purchase of new Ambassador cars for municipal engineers is likely to evoke strong reaction from the municipal councillors.

The MC meeting is also expected to take up approval estimates of Rs 4.17 crore for various development works.
