Kolkata, January 7 With the recent arrests of five felons, the Kolkata police claims to have busted a gang of dacoits that operated out of Jehanabad in Bihar targeting businessmen in Kolkata, largely in the Burrabazar area.

The Detective Department first picked up three men from Jehanabad — Baba, Ajay and Chhotu — after a police team, led by senior officer Abhranto Bandhu Majumder, reached Jehanabad on their trail. During interrogation, the police learnt the gang had two local contacts in Kolkata, who stored the loot.

These men, Arvind and Shravan, were then arrested and the police recovered jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh and watches amounting to Rs 1 lakh from the home of Arvind’s relative. Police sources said the brain behind this gang, Pintu is absconding.
