Kolkata CPM state secretary Biman Bose today asked Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to call an all-party meeting on rail and road blockades, which disrupt public life. Bose said he will send Left representative to attend such a meeting.

Bose’s reaction came following Banerjee’s statement in the Lok Sabha yesterday that the Railways incurs huge losses due to frequent blockades. She has asked MPs, especially Left MPs, to take steps so that railway services are not hampered owing to blockades.

“One party will see to it that trains would not be blocked, but others will not. This cannot be the solution to the problem. I would urge the Railway Minister to call an all-party meeting and the decision should be followed by all political parties,” said Bose.

Leader of Opposition Partha Chatterjee, meanwhile, expressed doubt whether an all-party meeting could be called by the minister. “Is Bose fair enough about his proposal?” he asked.
