Lucknow, October 17 The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh (RSS) seem to be coming closer to help the former regain its lost ground in the state.

Ahead of the parliamentary elections, senior members of both the RSS and BJP will sit together to review the performance of the party in the past elections and also frame a poll strategy. According to reports, senior RSS Pracharak K C Sudarshan is likely to be a part of the three-day convention to be held jointly by the BJP and the RSS.

During the convention, which is scheduled to be held in Lucknow between November 21 and 24, he is expected to meet senior BJP leaders and train the new members of the party on the lines of the Sangh. While BJP members have been asked to attend RSS meetings, RSS regional pracharaks have also started becoming an active part of the district level meetings of the BJP.

On Tuesday, RSS members participated in a district unit meet of the BJP organised in Lucknow. Pradeep Bhargava, president of the BJP Lucknow district unit, said: “Some of the pracharaks of the Awadh region were present at the meeting and gave some valuable inputs.”

After senior leaders like L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi will address a rally at Varanasi on October 18, members of the district units of the party from the Awadh region will take part in a meeting of RSS pracharaks that will be held a day later.

“All the members who have been a part of the RSS from their early days will attend the meet,” said Bhargava. Moreover, RSS meets at Kanpur scheduled for October 24 and 29 and Lucknow meeting are also likely to see some major decisions being taken.

A senior leader of the state unit of the party said: “We have a very strong base in the RSS. Many of our members are still a part of the shakhas and they will attend the RSS meetings. Also, our senior leaders and RSS pracharaks will sit together to help frame a plan which will help us to gain back our Hindu votebank in UP, specially in the eastern and the central region.”

Apart from these meetings, the regional meetings of the BJP scheduled for districts like Allahabad, Varanasi, Jaunpur and Gorakhpur will also see active participation of the district RSS units.
