Lucknow Without making any formal announcement, the BJP on Wednesday changed its candidates in four constituencies of Saharanpur district.

The party had earlier announced Kulvir Singh Rana as candidate from Saharanpur Dehat but he was replaced by Vikran Saini. Rana’s candidature was announced on January 4 and he had filed his nomination papers on February 4. Revolting against the party’s decision, Rana again filed his nomination as an Independent candidate today — the last day of nomination.

The BJP had earlier announced ticket for Vikram Saini from Behat. The party shifted Saini to Saharanpur Dehat and has now given ticket to a new face — Ajay Chauhan — in Behat. Sources said that Chauhan had been an active worker of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the party gave him ticket on penultimate day of nominations under RSS pressure. Chauhan also filed his nomination papers today.

The party also exchanged its candidates in Deoband and Gangoh. It had earlier declared ex-MLA Shashibala Pundir as candidate for Deoband and Chaudhay Rajpal Singh Judda for Gangoh. Now Pundir would be candidate for Gangoh and Judda from Deoband. Judda is party president of Saharanpur district.
