Junagadh, March 5 The election for the post of president and vice president in Ranawav Nagarpalika in Porbandar district proved to be shocker for the BJP.

The party's rebel councillor Samat Odedara had managed to muster support of 14 BJP councillors to bag the post of president.

Nearly 14 councillors, who were elected on BJP tickets, had revolted against Paresh Tewani, the party's official candidate for the post, in defiance of the whip issued. The party suspended 13 councillors, including Odedara.

The BJP had won 23 seats out of 27 seats in the Ranawav Nagarpalika.

However, nearly 14 of its councillors voted for the rebel candidate, Odedara.

The BJP's official nominee, Paresh Tewani, managed to garner only six votes. Three BJP councillors had abstained from voting.
