Kanpur, March 5 BJP leader Devendra Singh Bhole, who had been sitting on a dharna for the last two days against the alleged harassment by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Mahesh Trivedi, was forcibly taken away by the police and admitted to Hallet hospital on Wednesday.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Bhole said he was sleeping when around 150 policemen, led by senior administrative and police officers, took him to the emergency ward of Hallet Hospital on the pretext of a kidney ailment.

A senior officer said the police got information about Bhole’s health problem beacuse of which he was taken to hospital. “I told them that I was fit and have no problem but they did not listen,” Bhole said.

Bhole, who was a minister in the BJP-led government in UP, said policemen has been deployed outside the emergency ward and he was not allowed to meet anyone.

Local BJP leaders, meanwhile, gathered outside the hospital to meet him and also staged a demonstration against the state for “harassment of BJP leaders”.

He had alleged that supporters of Trivedi attacked him twice last year, but the police have failed to take any action against him. An irked Bhole, along with his supporters, launched an indefinite demonstration at the Bharat Mata Temple on Bada Chauraha on Monday.

He further said that around 25 to 30 BSP workers accompanied by policemen in plain dress barged into his house in Kanchausi village under the Mangalpur police station of Kanpur dehat last December.

“They damaged property and decamped with a licensed revolver and cash worth Rs 19,000 but the police did not take any action on my complaints.”

Earlier, some unidentified persons fired during a public gathering last year, which was being addressed by Bhole at the Derapur assembly seat of Kanpur. Even then Bhole sat on dharna and alleged that the guilty persons from BSP should be immediately arrested.
