While the former campaign will be led by the party’s women wing, the second one will be coordinated by the Bharatiya Yuv Jan Morcha (BYJM). Party state president Ramapati Ram Tripathi announced this on Thursday.
Comparing the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Bahujan Samaj Party (SP) regimes, Tripathi said both the parties have unleashed mafia rule in the state. While the SP had helped mafia to make inroads in Etawah and Kannauj districts, the BSP has taken it across all the state, he added.
“The people had voted for the BSP because they were tired of SP’s rule of terror. But Chief Minister Mayawati has only moved ahead with what the SP had begun. The extortion in the name of birthday celebrations and the murder of engineer Manoj Gupta are the best examples of this,” said Tripathi.
Beginning January 1, the BJP will organise large-scale protests under the banner of Pradesh Bachao.
Demanding a CBI probe into the engineer’s murder, the party will also organise Jail Bharo campaigns. While on January 6, protests will be held in Aurraiya, Allahabad, Meerut and Basti districts, on January 9, protests would be held in Lakhimpur Kheri, Saharanpur, Jhansi, Azamgarh and Aligarh districts. On January 12, protests will be organised in Varanasi, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Agra and Lucknow districts, followed by Mirzapur, Gonda and Banda on January 13. The campaign will end in Faizabad on January 16.
The BJYM, meanwhile, will lead a protest of unemployed youths of the state called Bheekh Do Bhent Denge, where they will beg on the streets to collect money for Mayawati’s birthday. The party’s women wing will organise the Laaj Bachao Suhaag Bachao campaign, requesting the chief minister to “protect” their suhaag from the “extortion drives”.
