Ahmedabad, December 5 Before Narendra Modi's arrival at the venue, local leaders took to the stage to rake up state and local issues, while their chief took on larger topics. Some MLAs and local leaders used the controversial Sohrabuddin fake encounter issue as ammunition while most extolled Modi's developmental triumphs and whipped up anti-Congress rhetoric. References were made to Sohrabuddin being a known terrorist, and even the real identity of his wife, Kauserbi, who was subsequently killed.

Just minutes before Narendra Modi arrived in Halol, the Panchmahals district education committee chairman, Pravinsinh Parmar took to the stage to strike out against the Congress for using the Sohrabuddin controversy as an issue. “We all know Sohrabuddin was a terrorist and we don't know whose wife Kauserbi is. However, the Congress, which is known for its under-handed techniques, is using this to campaign against our illustrious chief minister. It is all about Narendra Modi Vs the Congress," he said.

Some local leaders even mouthed the words uttered by Modi earlier in his speeches about no developments having taken place in the 50 years under Congress rule. “All of you know what our Narendrabhai has done in five years," said Halol sitting MLA Jayadrathsinh Parmar.
