Chandigarh The local unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has sent six names to the party high command in New Delhi for the selection of a candidate who would contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from the city.

These include former MP Satya Pal Jain, General Secretary Sanjay Tandon, former Party Chief Jai Ram Joshi, Ranjana Shahi, Hira Lal Mahajan and Ravi Prakash Kansal. The name of the candidate will be announced in the next few days.

In a meeting of the state executive of the party held today, National Secretary of the BJP and co-in charge Kiran Ghai, made an appeal to party workers to increase its base.

The party also demanded that the Administration submit a white paper on its policy and planning of the mega projects.

A political resolution, meanwhile, presented by Sanjay Tandon, was also approved by other members. The resolution states that BJP is concerned over the inefficient and misguided administration of the city.

The resolution further states that the city has already been adversely affected by the ill-directed and ineffective governance of the Congress-led government. There has a loss of jobs, price rise, soft peddling on terrorism, mishandling of transporter’s strike among other similar problems. Former MP Satya Pal Jain asked the party workers to unite for the forthcoming elections.
