But the move has not gone down well with a section of the BJP in the Vadodara district. Govind Rathwa, a key district BJP leader who was the chairman of the construction committee in the Vadodara district panchayat in the last term, now finds no place in any of the committees.
The story is no different for Geeta Rathwa, vice president of the district panchayat. Both are from the tribal dominated talukas in the district.
The story is being replicated even at the taluka level, with Sejal Thakkar, the Vadodara Rural taluka panchayat president and daughter-in-law of Vadodara MP, also finding herself sidelined in the re-composition of the committees.
Senior BJP leaders are now saying that persons, who have failed to perform as desired, will have to be punished in the same manner, or the proper message will not go to the party workers. Central Gujarat remains the lone region in the state where the party fared badly in the Assembly elections, especially in key rural and tribal areas.
