Ahmedabad The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) city unit will administer an oath of commitment to its 15,000 active office-bearers on the occasion of the death anniversary of late Deendayal Upadhyay on Wednesday.

The ceremony will be held at the Dada Sahebna Pagla ground near Gujarat University in the presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi and state party president Purshottam Rupala.

City BJP president Jagdish Patel said all elected members and office-bearers of the party’s city unit, ward level office-bearers, and executive members will attend the convention where Modi will guide them.

Patel, who was speaking to the media for the first time in his official capacity, said this will be the first-ever occasion when all elected members and office-bearers will come under one roof, carrying specially issued identity cards.

When asked if he was aware of the presence of Govindacharya in the city, who has come to attend a parallel function organised by the Mahagujarat Janata Party, Patel said the senior leader might have come on a private visit.
